About the Training & Licensing
Despite the lifestyle upgrades, we still need to make you a competent pilot, which might require some mental and physical input to complete the practical and theoretical requirements. This should give you the certification required to fly unsupervised globally.
Seamless Ground School & Theory:
Dedicated instructor sessions with instructors when required for practical or theoretical sessions. Enjoy full, unrestricted access to our digital learning platform covering Aerodynamics, Meteorology, Air Law, Flight Management, and Risk Mitigation, backed by private tutor sessions to prep you for the SAHPA exam.
World-Class Location: Wilderness, Garden Route
Training takes place in Wilderness, a pristine coastal gem along South Africa's Western Cape. Famous for its dramatic ridges, steady sea breezes, and reliable weather setups, it provides the safest and most efficient learning topography in the Southern Hemisphere.

By Air: Fly into George Airport (GRJ) via quick domestic connections from Cape Town or Johannesburg. The airport is a brief, 20-minute drive from the training grounds. Private airport transfers can be seamlessly arranged by our office, unless you want to rent a vehicle and drive yourself.

By Car: Conveniently accessed via the scenic N2 highway or the historic R62 route (approx. 4.5 to 5 hours from Cape Town).
Course Duration & Weather Contingencies
We set aside 14 dedicated days for this experience. Because a continuous schedule builds the muscle memory required for elite piloting, we recommend committing to the full block.
If weather puts a temporary hold on flying, time is immediately shifted to private classroom theory, equipment optimization, or left open for your personal remote work requirements.

SAHPA student membership of R440 and CAA License fee & SAHPA Membership R1960 (valid for 2 years)
- IPPI 4 international license card (R200). This International license equivalence could be used to fly abroad or convert to a local rating.
Minimum Practical Requirements to Complete License Requirements
- 35 Instructional solo flights (minimum)
- Minimum 4 hours of accumulated airtime
- 1 x 20min total flight duration
- 2 x 10min thermic flights
- Thermalling with consecutive 360-degree turns
- Flying with other pilots
- Demonstrate unassisted forward launching
- Demonstrate unassisted reverse launching
- Rear riser steering and landing
- Using the speed system in flight
- Using big ears and the speed system
- 3 Landings in a 50m diameter circle
- Demonstrate good ground control
- Demonstrate a good landing approach and landing technique
- Demonstrate assessing weather conditions for a safe takeoff
- Pass open-book SAHPA exam -85% pass rate required
